Press Release
January 23, 2001
BLUE BELL, PA -- High-speed Internet access in your hotel room. Express checkout.
Ticketless travel. With the Unisys e-@ction InRoom Connect solution, Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing
delivers a comprehensive computer system with Internet connectivity, hotel services and extensive local information
and entertainment offerings to a busy traveler's hotel room.
Unisys and Hyatt announced yesterday a contract has been signed to offer Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing customers
the Unisys e-@ction InRoom Connect solution, an in-room PC-based system which provides guests access to Web-based
news and online hotel services in addition to weather, financial information, e-mail and web-based music via a
high-speed Internet connection.
By March, InRoom Connect will be available in premium business-class rooms and suites and all of the hotel's rooms
will be equipped with high-speed broadband connectivity provided by Unisys.
``From the moment we met with the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing management, they made it clear that they were
fully committed to offering their guests the most advanced technological amenities available in the marketplace,''
said Michael DiLeva, director of the Hospitality Practice, Unisys e-Business Services. ``The Unisys InRoom Connect
solution enables them to do just that -- offer a complete in-room system that allows guests access to a variety
of hotel and local services as well as complete productivity, communication and entertainment services. By deploying
InRoom Connect, the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing has dramatically raised the bar in terms of the in-room guest
experience.''
Keating Building Corporation and Hyatt selected Unisys technology capabilities to provide hotel guests with the
most innovative technology available.
``With the increasing demand for technology based services, today's buildings must be 'smart buildings''' says
Daniel Keating, Chairman and CEO of Keating Development Corporation. ``By investing in the infrastructure now and
partnering with Unisys, a premiere service provider, this property will serve our tenants' and guests' technology
needs today and into the future.''
Featuring a state-of-the-art PC with an attractive flat-screen monitor, the system allows guests to access high-speed
Internet connection with or without a laptop. For those travelers who might need their own computer to access proprietary
software, InRoom Connect allows them to plug in their laptop and enjoy the same high-speed connection.
The PC- and server-based system enables Unisys to continually add new features to the solution, delivering additional
services to guests and revenue opportunities for their client hotels. Initially, the 40 business-class rooms in
the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing will be wired with the InRoom Connect solution.
``We are pleased to be the first hotel in Philadelphia to offer our customers this innovative service,'' says John
Kroll, general manager of Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing. ``We're a hotel that will provide a high
level of service to business and leisure travelers alike and with the Internet becoming a bigger and bigger part
of everyone's daily life, we feel that this type of system will allow us to make the in-room experience at the
Hyatt more like home or the office.''
Following this initial deployment, Unisys and Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing expect to further ``wow''
frequent guests with superior customer service by integrating InRoom Connect with the hotel's customer relationship
management (CRM) tools. These tools allow hotels to personalize interactions with guests and increase their marketing
effectiveness.
For example, using InRoom Connect, hotels can deliver personalized content and services upon check-in as well as
pre-load guest preferences, such as favorite room service orders and music selections.
