LAS VEGAS, NV -- J. Terrance Lanni, executive chairman of the board and chairman of the executive committee of
MGM MIRAGE, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2001 American Gaming Summit this month in
Las Vegas.
Lanni will receive the award at the Summit's Keynote Dinner scheduled for Thursday, January 11, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00
p.m. at the Bellagio Resort.
Chairman of one of the most prestigious entertainment and gaming companies in the world and the largest in Nevada,
Lanni is also recognized for his 18-year tenure as a senior executive with Caesars World, Inc., and for his distinguished
service as the only gaming industry member of The National Gambling Impact Study Commission.
Lanni is credited for the reorganization of the MGM Grand Resort into the City of Entertainment and the growth
of MGM Grand into the largest resort company in Nevada through the acquisitions of first Primm Resorts and then
Mirage Resorts, the latter of which is the biggest transaction in gaming industry history.
``The leadership that reflects Terry Lanni's intellect, talent, vision and courage has been equal to the best in
any sector of American endeavor,'' said Bob Faiss, panel moderator and partner in Lionel Sawyer Collins, Nevada's
largest law firm.
Lanni swiftly became an industry leader moving from his original position with Caesars World in January 1977 as
Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer to Senior Vice President 16 months later and elected Executive Vice President
in December 1979.
``Terry Lanni has proved to be the ideal representative for the gaming and entertainment industry in the most vital
forums and in the most demanding circumstances,'' said Faiss.

The American Gaming Summit is seen as a ``must attend'' event for top-level gaming executives. ``It offers unbeatable
networking opportunities with gaming industry leaders, public officials, key institutional investors, attorneys,
