PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- The "City of a 100 Spires" added a new jewel to its crown with the opening
yesterday of Four Seasons Hotel Prague. This latest addition to the Canadian hotel company’s rapidly growing portfolio
of luxury properties is its first property in the Czech Republic.
"The historic importance of Prague combined with the city’s magnetic appeal as a center for leisure and business
travel make it an ideal location for our newest European property," commented Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts
chairman and chief executive officer Isadore Sharp. "This, our 50th hotel, combines the best of Prague’s impressive
architecture with the 21st century amenities our guests have come to expect from Four Seasons."
From its great vantage point on the banks of the Vltava River, the 162-room Hotel is an ideal base for exploring
the cobbled Old Town streets and is conveniently close to the business district. Its remarkable design embodies
five centuries of architectural styles, marrying new construction with beautifully restored Baroque and Renaissance
structures in aesthetic harmony with the surrounding historic buildings.
Offering spacious luxury accommodations and Four Seasons anticipatory service, Four Seasons Hotel Prague will become
the preferred city address for discriminating visitors from all continents. A well equipped business center, cutting-edge
technology and 6,000 square feet of elegant meeting space will support corporate travelers. Hotel features include
a fine restaurant and bar, and a modern health center offering massage, sauna and cardiovascular equipment. Regional
Vice President Ignacio Gomez is the Hotel’s general manager.
As Four Seasons continues to grow, bringing luxury accommodations and intuitive personalized service to major locations
around the globe, this new property is one of several to open in recent months, and marks the company’s 50th hotel
worldwide. Four Seasons Hotel Caracas opened in January 2001; Four Seasons Hotel Cairo opened its doors in May
2000; and in 1999, Four Seasons properties opened in Scottsdale, Arizona; Punta Mita, Mexico; Paris; and London’s
Canary Wharf. Openings scheduled for 2001 include properties in Dublin, San Francisco, Sharm El Sheikh and Shanghai.
