CHICAGO, IL -- Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a three-year partnership with America's Promise - The Alliance
for Youth. Secretary of State Colin L. Powell founded the organization in 1997 at the President's Summit for America's
future.
``Hyatt has engaged in various volunteer efforts over the years and we look forward to enhancing our volunteerism
with America's Promise,'' said Scott Miller, president, Hyatt Hotels Corporation. ``With a nationwide presence,
Hyatt has a tremendous opportunity to make an impact in the lives of thousands of children over the next few years.''
America's Promise encourages its partners to create and fulfill programs that make an impact on the youth of this
country by promising a series of five commitments:
All Hyatt properties will continue engaging in partnerships with educational institutions, encourage employees
to participate in volunteer activities, distribute State Children's Health Insurance Program information to employees,
continue providing internships and expose school aged children to the hospitality industry by participating in
Groundhog Job Shadow Day. In addition, Hyatt will also continue to grow its scholarship program for minority students
interested in the hospitality industry, as well as incorporating a community service element into the scholarship
qualification standards.
