BURBANK, CA -- Christine Castro has been promoted to vice president, corporate communications for The Walt Disney
Company, it was announced today by John Dreyer, senior vice president, corporate communications.
Castro, 36, will be responsible for a wide range of media relations and financial/corporate communications activities
for the company. She joined Disney in 1999 as director, corporate communications.
``Chris has done an outstanding job formulating and communicating Disney's position on many complex and important
issues,'' Dreyer said. ``In addition, she has been instrumental in communicating the company's strategic initiatives
to the business press and other external constituents.''
Previously, Castro was director, corporate communications for SunAmerica Inc., a Los Angeles-based financial services
and investment company. Prior to joining SunAmerica in 1995, she spent four years at Rockwell International as
manager, employee communications. She also has worked as a reporter and editor.
Castro received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and a master of arts degree in communications management
from the University of Southern California. She and her husband, Gary Black, reside in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
