Hampton Recognized as Top Inns and Suites Chain in Atlanta by Consumers' Choice Award for Business Excellence

Press Release
February 27, 2001
MEMPHIS, TN -- Hampton(TM), the national chain of mid-priced Hampton Inn® and Hampton Inn & Suites® hotels, has been named as the premier choice among Atlanta residents for Inns & Suites lodging accommodations in the annual Consumers' Choice Award (CCA) for business excellence.

Hampton was selected by Atlanta consumers as the favorite Inns and Suites hotel chain in Atlanta.

The award is based on a study of 1,325 randomly selected persons who provide their opinions on businesses in 100 industry categories that have distinguished themselves based on quality, value, service and appearance. The study also allows consumers to cast their vote on the best companies in their community. The award was presented last Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at the CCA annual awards gala in Atlanta.

``With more than 40 Hampton hotels in the Atlanta area, Hampton takes great pride in achieving this stature, since the reputation created by our hotels in and around Atlanta underscores the success of our brand nationally,'' said William Edmundson, vice president brand performance, who was in attendance to receive the award. ``This award is especially meaningful since Atlanta was one of the first markets where Hampton was launched in the 1980s.

``We thank all our franchisees and Hampton employees for delivering a product that through the years continues to stand for great service, consistent quality and value to travelers everywhere.''

Hampton was selected for the honor by a broad demographic based on general public opinion, hotel amenities and value for family and business travel.

Among the value-added services and amenities Hampton offers are a free breakfast bar, free local telephone calls, no surcharge for long-distance access when using a calling card, a free in-room movie channel, an in-room coffee maker, iron and ironing board, free accommodations for children 18 years old and younger when sharing a room with their parents, and 75 percent of guest rooms designated as non-smoking.

In addition, all guest stays are backed by the chain's unconditional 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, which states that if guests are not completely satisfied with their stay, they are not expected to pay for that night.

Hampton Inn has received several national awards for its value product and service including the ``Highest Guest Satisfaction Among Mid-Price Hotel Chains with Limited Food Service'' from J.D. Power and Associates in its 2000 and 1999 Domestic Hotel Guest Satisfaction Study(SM). Hampton is also recognized as one of the best hotel chains in the annual Business Travel News Survey year after year.

Hampton is part of Hilton Hotels Corp., recognized internationally as a preeminent hospitality company. The company develops, owns, manages or franchises approximately 2,000 hotels, resorts and vacation ownership properties.
