SEAGROVE BEACH, FL -- Arvida, the community development arm of The St. Joe Company (NYSE:JOE), Friday announced
the appointment of Rod Wilson as vice president and general manager for West Florida.
In this capacity, Wilson will oversee Arvida's development initiatives in Northwest Florida's Walton, Bay, and
Gulf counties, which comprise a wide range of residential, resort and commercial development. ``As an executive,
lawyer and entrepreneur whose professional endeavors have included the acquisition and disposition of assets, negotiation
of strategic alliances and joint ventures and value creation, Rod Wilson brings important strengths to Arvida's
West Florida Operations,'' said Jim Motta, president and CEO of Arvida. ``Rod's leadership abilities, his creative
and entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving, and his history of creating value for stakeholders is impressive
and should prove indispensable as Arvida continues to deliver significant value to this region, our customers,
and to St. Joe shareholders.''
In the early 1980's Wilson served as senior vice president and general counsel to the Arvida Corporation. Since
then he co-founded a Real Estate Investment Banking firm, was president and chief executive officer for AMFAC/JMB
of Hawaii where he led the creation of a new vision for the company's 60,000 acres and 4 sugar plantations. Most
recently, as a principal in The Wilson Group, he was the catalyst for a joint venture on approximately 400 acres
at the Epcot Interchange in Orlando. As director of operations for a private Internet firm, he was responsible
for overseeing technology development, website production, administration, strategic alliances and business development,
which was instrumental to the company's emergence as a leading Internet strategy and solutions provider. Wilson
has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas. He and
his wife, Joyce, are moving to the area from Delray Beach, Fla.
