New BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce Application Offers the Best of Personalized Travel and E-Commerce Functionality

Press Release
April 3, 2001
REDWOOD CITY, CA & MADRID -- BroadVision Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSN, Neuer Mrkt: BDN) and Amadeus Global Travel Distribution SA (Madrid: AMS) yesterday announced the availability of BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce(TM), an integrated e-commerce travel application that combines BroadVision's e-business experience and BroadVision One-To-One® personalization technology with Amadeus' expertise as a leader in global travel distribution and travel industry technology.

BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce allows travel providers (such as airlines, hotels and car rental agencies) and travel distributors (such as online travel agencies and corporations with extensive travel needs) to quickly and cost-efficiently deploy next-generation B2C and B2E Internet travel solutions.

One of the first e-business applications tailored to the needs of a specific vertical market, BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce offers customers a best-of-breed solution for developing new online travel services or enhancing existing offerings with cutting-edge personalization features designed to provide dramatic increases in customer retention and conversion rates. BroadVision One-To-One personalization features let travel providers meet the unique needs of individual end users with support for dynamic user profiles and the ability to deliver personalized travel alerts, services, information and promotional offers. Adding to its state-of-the-art capabilities, BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce goes beyond the web by providing access to services via WAP-enabled wireless devices so end users can make travel arrangements anytime, anywhere.

In addition to providing access to 500 airlines, 54,000 hotels, and 48 car rental companies, the open application also fosters cross-sell and up-sell opportunities through an integrated shopping cart coupled with an external inventory system, as well as a unified logon and payment process. BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce is also a truly international product that can display information in 18 different languages.

BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce is the result of a joint, ongoing development effort as part of a dedicated competency center that BroadVision and Amadeus established in June 2000. To date, most Internet travel applications have been built on a custom, case-by-case basis, resulting in slow time-to-market and relatively high integration and maintenance costs. In contrast, BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce is a ready-to-use application that offers sophisticated functionality right ``out-of-the-box'' along with extensive customization capabilities, so customers can deploy unique e-travel solutions in record time and sustain their differentiation.

``BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce represents a first in the travel and e-commerce markets. In partnership with Amadeus we're providing a quick time-to-market e-commerce solution designed specifically for the demands of the travel industry,'' said Dr. Pehong Chen, president and CEO of BroadVision. ``BroadVision customers in the travel sector have conducted studies showing that personalization attracts and retains more customers while increasing transaction volumes, reducing retention costs, and providing rewarding experiences to consumers and employees alike.''

``BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce is the only sustainable solution for online reservation customers who want to take their solutions to the next level by offering unique personalization features,'' said Philippe Chereque, Senior Vice President Corporate Strategy for Amadeus. ``With the launch of BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce, Amadeus and BroadVision are well positioned to take a leading share in the growing worldwide travel services market.''

``Whether our customers are looking for the best available fares, rebooking a flight at the last minute via a mobile phone, or planning a vacation, BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce will help us meet traveler needs with an unprecedented degree of personalization. By delivering compelling, individualized content, we expect to bring visitors back, serve them more efficiently, and realize increased revenue per visitor,'' said Hakan Alvgren, CIO of Travellink, the Nordic cutting-edge online travel service provider.
