BRASELTON, GA -- A delegation of 25 world travel trade leaders including Dr. Don Panoz, founder of Chateau Elan Hotels & Resorts and Henk Evers, president, were invited by the Scottish Tourist Board and British Tourist Authority to a meeting and reception last week aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh.

The purpose of the meeting was to update governmental and private sector actions implemented to counter misconceptions on the Foot & Mouth problem negatively impacting travelers and tourism to the UK. Henry McLeish, First Minister of Scotland, Helen Liddell, Secretary of State and Alasdair Morrison, Deputy Minister for Tourism led the government delegation with the travel leaders from the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

Dr. Panoz and Evers were in Fife (St. Andrews), Scotland at the time for development meetings at their new $80 million, 520 acre St. Andrews Bay Golf Resort & Spa property opening this June. They joined the other travel leaders who were on a visit to welcome back overseas tourists to Scotland as recent media coverage has led travelers into believing that the UK is closed due to the outbreak of Foot & Mouth problem.
