Boston Marriott Quincy To Open

WASHINGTON, DC -- Marriott International, Inc. (MAR:NYSE) announced April 18 that the new Boston Marriott Quincy will open May 15, 2001. The 464-room property is located in historic Quincy at 1000 Marriott Drive. Just eight miles south of downtown Boston, this newest addition to the Marriott, Resorts and Suites portfolio will be owned by the Flatley Company of Braintree, Mass., and managed by Marriott International. The hotel plans to employ more than 300 associates.

The Boston Marriott Quincy provides more than 15,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space divisible into 17 rooms, including two ballrooms. The 9,800 square-foot Grand Ballroom can host up to 1,400 people for receptions, 840 for banquets and 1,000 theatre-style. The hotel’s 2,656-square-foot Junior Ballroom can accommodate up to 400 people. Five conference suites and an executive boardroom also are available and come equipped with high-speed Internet access. The hotel provides state-of-the-art audiovisual and videoconferencing technology, and a 24-hour business center to meet the needs of its guests.

All guest rooms, including eight suites, come equipped as “The Room That Works” for business travelers, with a two-line telephone, voicemail and dataport, high-speed Internet access, ample workspace and an ergonomic chair. Beds are topped with duvet covers, and bedrooms feature marble vanities and views of Quincy’s Waterfront district and downtown Boston. Other room features include individual climate control, in-room coffee and tea, hair dryer, iron and ironing board.

Hotel amenities include indoor pool, fitness center, whirlpool and sauna, complimentary parking, concierge, valet and guest laundry and a gift shop.

Guests of the Boston Marriott Quincy have several dining options. Hancock’s, the hotel’s full-service restaurant and steakhouse with display kitchen, offers American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Kilroy’s Irish Pub, also part of the hotel, serves cocktails and snacks for lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy raw bar fare for lunch and dinner at the hotel’s Lobby Lounge.

Nearby attractions include the South Shore Plaza shopping mall, John Adams and John Quincy Adams National Historic Site, U.S. Naval Shipbuilding Museum and the USS Salem. Guests also have the option of Boston sightseeing, shopping, museums and sporting events, and the Blue Hills Recreation Area for skiing and hiking. The Logan International Airport is a 30-minute drive from the hotel.
