Press Release: USA Technologies, Inc.
November 13, 2001
NEW YORK, NY -- USA Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: USTT) announced yesterday that it is demonstrating
its latest Business Express® offering at the International Hotel Motel and Restaurant Show at the Jacob Javits
Center in New York through November 13.
The Company is receiving a strong response from show attendees to Business Express enhancements such as high speed
Internet connectivity and high performance office equipment, which improve performance for users. In addition;
interactive advertising capability and new networking/financial services offer increased manageability and new
revenue sources for hotels. Most importantly, on top of these improvements, the offering is more affordable and
flexible than ever.
A timely combination of an enhanced Business Express offering, and a desire by the hospitality industry to take
a 'Back to Basics' approach on serving its core customer, the business traveler, is driving increased demand.
Cecil B. Ledesma, Director of National Sales -- Hospitality and Travel of USA Technologies -- reporting from the
floor of the show, said that his company's objective is to leverage its leadership position in the market to increase
its installed base to approximately 1000 locations in 2002. ``We will maintain a vigilant focus on assisting our
hotel customers in meeting the business services and connectivity needs of their core customer. Our Business Express®
offering is the industry leader by a wide margin -- and we will leverage our improved offering to extend that lead,''
he said.
In just a few short years, USA Technologies has established itself as a market leader in providing automated business
centers for the traveling public. Its flagship product, Business Express is powered by the company's core unattended
payment and control technologies, TransAct(TM) and e-Port(TM). Business Express is a self-serve business center
fully equipped with everything a business traveler needs to be connected to the Internet and conduct e-Business
24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. Everything is provided, from the very latest desktop workstations and laptop
PCs, to state of the art printers, copiers and facsimile machines. IBM supports the business centers with workstation
installation, maintenance and business recovery services, as well as customer call center support to ensure the
Business Express offices are operation 24x7. Konica and Sprint support the product line with office equipment and
connectivity respectively. Business Express is already located in nearly 400 hotels in the continental US, Alaska,
Hawaii, and Puerto Rico -- including presence in nearly all major hotel chains.
``We will not stop here,'' said Mr. Ledesma. ``USA Technologies is working with its partners IBM, Konica, Sprint
and others to expand the reach of Business Express to things such as in room connectivity, wireless networking
and room-to-business center printing. Our goal is to be the on-property platform from which all business services
of the hotel guest can be met -- all the while -- providing hoteliers with an amenity which also produces revenue,''
he said.
