WASHINGTON, DC -- MeriStar Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: MMH), the nation's largest independent hotel management
company, yesterday announced that Sean C. Worker has joined MeriStar as vice president of sales.
Previously, he was chief operating officer of Maxxim Hotels & Resorts, a Dallas-based hotel management and
development company.
In his new position, Worker will be responsible for all sales activities at MeriStar's 222 managed hotels, directing
the six other vice presidents of sales as well as two national account directors. He will report to Hoyt Bacon,
chief marketing officer.
``Driving sales and motivating our 1000 sales professionals is as important as ever, and Sean brings a wealth of
sales and operating expertise to the table,'' said Bacon. ``He has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry
and has worked in and/or managed every department ranging from the front desk to accounting. With his range of
experience, we expect Sean will play a key role in enhancing sales throughout our portfolio.''
A graduate of the hotel school in his native Galway, Ireland, Worker trained in Germany, Switzerland, England and
Ireland. He came to the United States 11 years ago to work with the Medallion Group of Hotels in Houston, Texas,
and has since worked with nationally branded properties throughout the Midwest and Southeast.
Before joining Maxxim Hotels & Resorts, he served as vice president of national sales, regional vice president
of operations and area director of sales with Bristol Hotels & Resorts, a management company with a 120 properties,
ranging from upscale business to family resort profiles.
