The Keith Companies Awarded Bachmann Springs Resort Contract

Press Release: The Keith Companies, Inc.
August 7, 2001
COSTA MESA, CA -- The Keith Companies, Inc. (Nasdaq: TKCI), an engineering and consulting services firm, announced today that it has been selected to provide professional services for Bachmann Springs, Ltd. of Tombstone, AZ, a company developing an 1,800-acre destination resort that includes a Tom Fazio designed golf course, world-class hotel and 700 to 1,000 custom home sites.

The Keith Companies' services will support the development team's environmental objectives with analysis and evaluation of leading edge Green Development techniques. Because of the high desert locale and unique site qualities, special attention is being given to environmental issues regarding water usage, wastewater disposal, storm water management and preservation of natural resources.

``While a number of the firms we interviewed had golf and resort community experience, no one had the extensive list of recent, high end golf projects exhibited by The Keith Companies. This credential, coupled with active efforts in Green Development techniques, including the application of the LEEDS rating system to site based design, was an important factor in our selection,'' stated Jim Heid, Managing Director of Development for Bachmann Springs.

According to the announcement by The Keith Companies Chairman and CEO Aram Keith, five of the company's 15 divisions, including Hook engineering, will participate in and provide technical expertise to the project.

``Being awarded this contract is a tribute to the creativeness and quality of our organization. It also affirms the effectiveness of our cross selling and geographic expansion initiatives undertaken in the past year,'' Keith stated. ``The Keith Companies' traditional strengths in the areas of residential and resort development services are leveraged well by the strong regional presence, reputation and broad scope of services provided by Hook's staff.

``Organizations like Hook are the cornerstone of our acquisition strategy,'' Keith said. ``We are actively addressing opportunities with a number of other quality engineering firms that, like Hook, will continue to expand our service offerings and our geographic scope.''
