The Hanalei Bay Resort at Princeville, Kauai, is one of those places where once you've been there you don't want to leave.

Owned by Quintus Resorts, LLC and ranked as one of the top tropical resorts in the world by Conde Nast Traveler, this luxury condominium resort was built in 1979 and was completely renovated in 1995. It offers outstanding views of Hanalei Bay and the dramatic rock outcropping known from the movie "South Pacific" as "Bali Hai".

It is affiliated with Interval International and has attained the coveted 5-Star rating of excellence.

Amenities include two swimming pools with picturesque waterfalls, a sand-bottom whirlpool spa, eight tennis courts, same-day laundry services, sundecks, balconies, coffee makers, air-conditioning and color cable television. Suites include complete kitchens with full-size refrigerators, disposals, stove/oven and dishwashers. A concierge also is available to assist guests with special requests and booking of activities.

Complimentary shuttles are available to the nearby Princeville Makai and Prince Golf courses. The Prince Course is ranked the best course in Hawaii and among the top 100 in the U.S. by Golf Digest Magazine. Hiking trails, kayaking and seasonal activities are nearby.

Other amenities on the property include the Happy Talk Lounge with Hawaiian entertainment six nights a week and Jazz Jams on Sunday afternoons, the award winning Bali Hai restaurant serving Pacific Cuisine nightly, a gift shop and a beauty shop.

The North Shore of Kauai is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world. Many movies have been filmed here, and many famous people have called the area home.

The nearby town of Hanalei itself, tucked away at the very heart of the North Shore, can only be reached by a narrow road and some one-lane bridges. You'll find several fun places to dine, many boutiques offering hand-made goodies, and lots of people ready to settle down to "talk story" with you at the drop of a hat. You can rent kayaks, sailboards, surf boards and snorkel gear there, also; kayak down the Hanalei river, catch some waves in Hanalei bay, snorkel the clear waters, or book a tour of the Na Pali Coast by boat or plane. Not far west of Hanalei are the famous Lumahai Beach and Ha'ena Beach, with Mt. Makena (Bali Hai) as a backdrop. All of this is within easy reach of the Hanalei Bay Resort.

East of Hanalei you will be brought back to the present day in a most enjoyable way at the luxurious resort area of Princeville, where the Hanalei Bay Resort is located, perched on a plateau that stretches from the mountains to low cliffs at the ocean's edge. If you are a golfer, you will think you have died and gone to golf heaven here, with both the 27-hole Princeville Makai Course or the 18-hole Prince Course.

Quintus Resorts was formed in 1998 by Ronald Wilhite, Lex Adams, Bob Dunbar, and Bob Sewell, executives from The Ridge Tahoe/The Resorts West Group; and Gary Grottke of Walton Vacation Resorts, LLC. The goal of Quintus Resorts is to develop top-quality vacation ownership resorts throughout the United States. Today, Quintus has resorts in Lake Tahoe, Nevada; Genoa, Nevada; Branson, Missouri; and Hanalei on the Island of Kauai in Hawaii.

Together, the Quintus Resorts executives bring over 80 years of resort industry experience to vacation ownership and the properties operated and managed by Quintus.

Lex Adams sold his interest in the company late last year, but retains his interest in Resorts West and still holds the title of president.

Walton Street Capital, a Chicago-based investment-capital group, is the primary equity source for acquisition and development of Quintus projects. It raises money from individuals with high net worth and from corporate trust funds, and invests heavily in real estate and hospitality projects. Its holdings include apartment complexes and several Four Seasons and Marriott hotels.

On December 22, 1999 the Hotel Corporation of the Pacific, better known as ASTON Hotels & Resorts, announced an agreement with Quintus to handle the sales and marketing of the deluxe Hanalei Bay Resort, with Quintus Vacation Management, LLC. continuing to manage the resort.

Said Bob Sewell at the time, "Quintus Resorts continues to manage day-to-day operations of the Hanalei Bay Resort, as we've done since we assumed ownership of the property in April 1999. In addition, we have just completed a long selection process and established a relationship with ASTON to better serve the overall marketing of this property. ASTON's expertise in sales & marketing of properties in Hawaii is unmatched."

Based in Honolulu, ASTON Hotels & Resorts operates 33 condominium resorts and hotels on the four major Hawaiian islands. The company is the number one operator of suites and resort condominiums and hotels in Hawaii and is a ResortQuest International company, the leading provider of condominium and vacation home rentals in premier resort locations worldwide. ASTON® Hawaii and ASTON Hotels & Resorts® Hawaii are registered trade names and trademarks of AST Brands, LLC.
