Prestige Resort Development Begins Sale of Luxury Units at The Club at Big Bear Village

Construction to Begin on First Fractional-Ownership Luxury Resort in Southern California

Press Release
December 12, 2000
BIG BEAR LAKE, CA -- Prestige Resort Development has begun construction of the $90 million-plus, 61-unit Club at Big Bear Village, the first luxury residence club providing fractional ownership in Southern California.

Located two hours from most metropolitan areas, the project is scheduled to open in the summer of 2001. It is designed for prospective buyers interested in a second home without the complexities of traditional vacation-home ownership.

The Club at Big Bear Village will be a gated private residence club and high-end resort, owned by 610 members, each with a 1/10 undivided, deeded interest ownership.

Units include spacious three- and four-bedroom townhouses and three manors. Each has a professionally designed interior with high-quality fixtures and amenities. Opening prices range from $104,000 for a three-bedroom to $124,000 for a four-bedroom.

The resort has a fully equipped fitness center; men's and women's steam and sauna rooms and spa service rooms; an adult owners' lounge; a family clubroom; a teen center; a youth center; a private gourmet restaurant with an extensive wine cellar; and executive boardrooms for retreats and meetings.

Unlike timeshare, which characteristically entitles an owner to a specific week, with lodging options limited to a specific unit, buyers actually purchase real estate in The Club at Big Bear Village. This allows them seasonal reservations based on a rotating priority system, with equal access to the holidays and special events. If some members use The Club less, others can use it more.

USA Today recently designated Big Bear as one of the top three U.S. vacation destinations. In winter, it attracts visitors to its 1,000 acres of trails and back country for skiing and snowboarding, and in spring for hiking, biking, fishing and golf.

Similar clubs operate successfully in Aspen, Vail, Telluride and Steamboat Springs, Colo.; New York; and Mexico, but the concept is new to Southern California. Principals from Prestige Resort Development also developed Northwoods Resort & Conference Center at Big Bear.
