Silverleaf Resorts, Inc., one of the top 10 timeshare vacation companies in the world in terms of size and ownership
base, hosted a reception on Monday, April 10 to give members of the Galveston, Texas Chamber of Commerce and local
dignitaries an opportunity to preview their new resort, the Silverleaf Seaside Resort.
Present at the ceremony were Galveston's Mayor, representatives from the City Council, the Building Commission, and the Board of Realtors as well as other dignitaries and representatives from Silverleaf. In addition, the Galveston Chamber of Commerce officiated at the ribbon cutting ceremony and presented a plaque and a certificate designating the new Seaside Resort as a member in good standing of the Chamber.
A $40 million dollar project which has taken three years to reach this point, the first building of the Seaside Resort will be ready to accept guests within two weeks. It is Silverleaf's first beachside resort.
So much interest has been shown in it by the company's more than 102,000 owners that Tom Franks, president of Silverleaf Resort Acquisitions, announced that the company expects to begin construction of the second two buildings ahead of time, probably next month, and that it may not take the anticipated 8 to 10 years to achieve buildout.
In terms of sales, Franks said that the Seaside Resort is the "hottest out of the barn" of any of their resorts just starting sales.
At buildout the resort will have approximately 280 units.
Located just 45 minutes south of Houston, it will offer walking paths along a lagoon, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a play area for the kids, sand volleyball, a pool with bath house, an activities center and a beach club. The units are 2-bedrooms with a maximum sleeping capacity of 6, and private sleeping capacity of 4. All units will have air conditioning, carpet, dishwasher, full kitchen, microwave and telephone.
With bright pastel colors to emphasize the tropical nature of the resort's location, the architecture is Island
Victorian with quaint cupolas adorning some of its buildings and an open, airy feeling. Rooms with ocean views
will highlight the resort, which has about 635 feet of Gulf of Mexico beachfront.
Based in Dallas, Texas, Silverleaf Resorts, Inc. currently owns and/or operates 22 resorts in various stages of
