WESTLAKE, TX -- It is so quiet outside Vontilla Parchman's ranch house that buzzing grasshoppers make the only
sound.
Just over a hill from her front door, Circle T Ranch rolls toward the sunrise under shady trees. The grass is a
swirl of orange and green.
From her side yard, Parchman can see the Oddfellows Cemetery. There, a historical marker guides visitors to the
hanging tree where a horse thief met his end in 1906.
In a few years, she will have a different view.
Golfers will walk Circle T's rolling hills, retreating to a resort hotel on 22 acres of ranchland.
