Marriott continues to expand portfolio in China

WASHINGTON, DC -- Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) Friday announced that the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongqiao has opened its doors to travelers. This 315-room hotel is the fourth Marriott branded hotel in mainland China and brings the total rooms to 2,137.

The hotel is owned by the Zijang Group Co. Ltd. The general manager is Robert J. Lohrmann.

The Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongqiao is located 10 minutes east of the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and 60 minutes from the Shanghai Pudong Airport.

Designed to meet five-star business hotel standards, each of the hotel’s guest rooms features central air-conditioning, mini-bar, deluxe bathroom with shower and bath facilities, voice mail and data port for e-mail. Guests may also take advantage of the hotel’s beauty salon, business center, indoor swimming pool and health club.

For dining, guests may choose from the hotel’s four restaurants – Marriott Café, serving continental and Asian food; Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant, featuring regional Chinese cuisine; Manhattan Steakhouse, which serves grade-A imported beef; and Champions, an international sports restaurant open daily for drinks and dinner. In addition, the hotel has a lobby lounge, which serves daily afternoon tea and evening cocktails, and a Gourmet Shop offering fresh breads, pastries and imported specialty items.The Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongqiao has extensive meeting facilities including a 745-square-meter (2,444-square-foot) ballroom that accommodates 600 people and can be divided into three sections. There are nine additional multi-purpose function and meeting rooms that total 713 square-meters (2,339.2 square-feet) of meeting space.
