Press Release: Allin Corporation
September 7, 2000
PITTSBURGH, PA -- Allin Corporation (Nasdaq: ALLN) announced that it has received a purchase order from Royal Caribbean
Cruises Ltd. (NYSE: RCL) to secure the hardware necessary to implement Allin's interactive television solution
for Royal Caribbean's newest ship, the ``Radiance of the Seas,'' which is scheduled to make its maiden voyage in
March 2001. Allin and Royal Caribbean are negotiating the details of the consulting agreement under which the companies
would jointly deploy the interactive television system, currently installed on Voyager of the Seas.
Upon completion of this project, Allin and Royal Caribbean will have delivered a state-of-the-art interactive television
system which will use the latest in web technology to provide Radiance of the Seas' guests with the convenience
of using their staterooms' TV sets to access a variety of electronic commerce services such as previewing and reserving
shore excursions, watching on-demand movies and informational videos, ordering room service, and reviewing their
folio accounts and shipboard activities. The Allin solution will interface with the vessel's hotel management system
to allow direct billing to guests' accounts for E-Commerce transactions processed through the interactive television
system.
In addition to Radiance of the Seas, the system will also be installed on Explorer of the Seas, set to debut on
October 28, 2000.
``When we made the determination to move forward with our interactive television initiative, we heavily researched
the industry worldwide prior to choosing to work with Allin,'' commented Nick Pietrocarlo, Project Manager, ITV
of Royal Caribbean. ``We feel we made the best choice as Allin continues to exceed our expectations when delivering
these reliable, state-of-the-art, and cost-effective systems. These factors are very important as we have come
to consider interactive television a core technology onboard our vessels, a technology which continues to increase
guest satisfaction and improve staff efficiencies.''
``Royal Caribbean is well ahead of the market in offering interactive services to its guests,'' commented Doug
Tempero, managing director of Allin's interactive group. ``They had the foresight to be able to see the value in
working with us to jointly develop an interactive television system from the ground up. Everything from the navigation
of the system to the graphics is unique to Royal Caribbean. We are very pleased to have performed sufficiently
to have earned the opportunity to continue working with Royal Caribbean on this exciting project.''
