ATLANTA, GA -- Microtel Inns & Suites, the fastest growing chain of all-newly constructed, budget/economy hotels
in the U.S., continues to expand westward with the opening of two new Oregon properties located in Portland and
Seaside. There is also a Microtel Inn & Suites open in Sutherlin, Ore. U.S. Franchise Systems (Nasdaq: USFS)
is the parent company of the franchisors of the Microtel Inns & Suites brand.
``Until recently, Microtel was virtually unknown in the State of Oregon,'' commented Vinay Patel, vice president

The Microtel Inn & Suites in Portland, owned and managed by Pranay Enterprises, Inc., is a three-story, 66-room
property, located at 82nd Ave. and I-84, 8225 NE Wasco St. Single, double and suite accommodations feature remote
cable TV, CNN, ESPN, HBO and Pay-Per-View, complimentary daily continental breakfast, indoor heated pool and spa,
fitness center, guest laundry and meeting facilities. Jacuzzi suites are available. The hotel is within five miles
of Portland International Airport, Lloyd Shopping Center, Hollywood District and numerous local golf courses, eight
miles from the Portland Zoo and Pittock Mansion, and 10 miles from the Portland International Raceway. It is also
closeby numerous local restaurants and corporate office parks.
Seaside's new Microtel, located at 2455 South Roosevelt on Highway 101 and minutes from the beach. It is a three-story,
61-room property with single, double and suite accommodations. Jacuzzi suites are also available. Amenities include
satellite TV with CNN, ESPN and STARZ, complimentary daily continental breakfast and meeting facilities. The hotel,
owned by Cannes Enterprise, is less than two miles from the Seaside Aquarium, Cannes Cinema Center and Factory
Outlet Mall, and seven miles from Cannon Beach and Ecola State Park.

Microtel recently celebrated a milestone with the opening of its 200th property in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The brand,
which had 22 open hotels when it was acquired by USFS in October 1995, reached this milestone in less than five
years, representing one of the fastest growing chains in lodging history.
While the brand's portfolio is most heavily focused in the U.S. with properties open in 39 states and under development
in 49, there are also international properties open in Buenos Aires, Argentina and San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and
under construction in Calapan City in the Philippines and Mendoza, Argentina.
