Press Release
October 3, 2000
DALLAS, TX -- Wyndham International, Inc. (NYSE:WYN) announced yesterday that it has rebranded Baltimore's largest
hotel as the Wyndham Baltimore Inner Harbor.
The 707-room downtown hotel is the latest Wyndham-branded flagship hotel located in major cities across the United
States.
``Baltimore is a major gateway city and we are delighted to raise our flag there,'' said Fred J. Kleisner, president
and chief executive officer of Wyndham International. ``With our downtown properties in Philadelphia, Wilmington
and Washington, this hotel will further strengthen our presence in the important mid-Atlantic region.
``Baltimore also represents our plans to further establish Wyndham in major convention and business markets. Within
the past 18 months, we have added downtown hotels in Atlanta, Chicago, Boston and New Orleans, announced a new
management agreement for the Wyndham Anatole in Dallas and started refurbishing major hotels in Los Angeles and
other major markets,'' added Kleisner.
The Baltimore hotel, which is owned and currently operated by Wyndham, was formerly known as the Omni Inner Harbor
Hotel and is the city's leading convention hotel offering guests 30,000 square feet of meeting space.
In addition to a new name, Wyndham Baltimore will receive approximately $6 million in guestroom refurbishment,
new signs and a redesigned entrance.
The hotel is scheduled to complete the implementation of Wyndham's ``Room That Performs'' guestroom amenities also
being installed in Wyndham Hotels across the United States this fall. Each Baltimore guestroom will receive high-speed
Internet access and two-line cordless telephones, as well as ergonomic Herman Miller desk chairs, pillow-top mattresses
dressed with duvets or coverlets, pillow shams, bed skirts and decorative pillows. During first quarter 2001, Wyndham
Baltimore's renovations will include elevator upgrades and the installation of new carpet.
In addition to brand-wide compliance, the downtown hotel will begin using electronic access cards and upgraded
property management systems.
Wyndham Baltimore features three restaurants: Shula's Steakhouse, Shula's Steak 2 and Shula's Hall of Fame Lounge.
Wyndham owns and operates Shula's Steakhouse restaurants in several of its hotels across the country.
``We are excited about providing the city with three distinct Shula's restaurants under one roof,'' said Ted Teng,
chief operating officer for Wyndham International. ``Our alliance with Don Shula's Steakhouse allows us to offer
a nationally recognized restaurant to our hotel guests and the local community.''
In addition to the restaurants, the hotel offers on-site audio/visual services, an exercise facility, an outdoor
swimming pool, access to a full-service health club located directly across from the hotel, and 19 suites.
Jeffrey Keefe will continue to serve as general manager of the hotel, which is located at 101 West Fayette Street.
