GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND, Bahamas -- The $400 million resort complex spearheading the resurgence of Grand Bahama Island, Our Lucaya, proudly announces the grand opening of The Butch Harmon School of Golf on Dec. 1, 2000. The second worldwide school operated by Harmon offers a comprehensive range of practice facilities that replicate different playing conditions encountered on courses around the world.

Considered one of the hottest teachers in golf, Harmon currently teaches golf prodigy Tiger Woods and has worked with dozens of successful PGA Tour professionals including Davis Love III and Greg Norman, as well as dozens of famous celebrities. An experienced golf professional famous for teaching exceptional swing techniques, Harmon's career encompasses golf course architecture and design, as well as golf education and instruction. Every detail of the school -- designed to USGA specifications -- illustrates personalized, distinctive touches from the golfing great.

``We are developing exciting, new golf programs at Our Lucaya,'' Harmon states, ``making it a challenging, educational, yet fun and memorable golfing experience for everyone.''

Harmon's newest school provides spectacular, unmatched facilities. Practice putting greens feature swales and gullies, subtle burrows and swift slopes. Practice bunkers offer different types of sand, grass, banks, elevations and slopes. Grassy hollows, ankle deep rough, uphill and downhill slopes, and severe contouring encompass the chipping greens. Large elevated tee areas challenge golfers with a variety of actual course distances and realistic playing situations.

Our Lucaya has also made available indoor swing video analysis, a teaching seminar area, covered teaching bays, short, mid-iron, and long iron targets, and a driving range. Marco Nijhof, senior vice president for Our Lucaya boasts, ``The resort is honored to have developed a partnership with Butch Harmon in creating a Butch Harmon School of Golf at Our Lucaya. Coupled with two championship golf courses, Our Lucaya will be known as the golf destination in the Caribbean.''

Our Lucaya presents 36 championship holes of golf designed to satisfy the needs of the most discerning golfers -- the Our Lucaya Reef Course, soft opening in late November, and Our Lucaya Lucayan Course. The Reef Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., boasts 6,920 yards of links-style, fairways and greens lined with palm trees -- truly a player's paradise. Described by the architect himself, `` ... a bit like a Scottish course, but a lot warmer,'' the course requires precise shotmaking -- with water on 13 of its 18 holes -- and a myriad of bunkers and various types of long grass swaying in the trade winds. The Reef Course hosts the SENIOR PGA TOUR'S ``Our Lucaya Senior Slam,'' Dec. 2-3, 2000 between champions Tom Kite, Raymond Floyd, Hale Irwin and Doug Tewell.

Rated the ``Number One Course in the Bahamas'' by Links magazine, the Lucayan Course, opened in 1962, boasts a classic design by the legendary Dick Wilson. Its holes are completely tree-lined with very few water hazards, the punishing doglegs combined with elevated greens provide ample tests for any golfer. Encompassing an impressive 6,824 yards, the course has hosted a PGA TOUR event, The Caribbean Championships and The Bahamas National Amateur, among others. The Lucayan Course plays host to the 2000 Breitling Crystal Pro Am, Nov. 13-19, and the 1st Annual Caribbean Open, Dec. 6-9.

The newest resort in the Bahamas, Our Lucaya, is an Audubon-affiliated member of the USGA and The Metropolitan New York Golf Association. The vibrant, new island playground opening Dec. 1, is much more than its impressive 1,350 rooms, relaxing spa, 14 cuisine collections and watering holes, imaginative children's center, casino -- operated by London Clubs International -- and eclectic marketplace.

Our Lucaya is just 35 minutes via air from Florida and less than two-and- a-half hours from New York. Our Lucaya is easily accessible via Grand Bahama International Airport with flights from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
