CALGARY, AB - On May 22, 2000, Calgary's newest downtown hotel will add 355 much-needed rooms to the city's core.
After two years of construction, the Hyatt Regency Calgary, adjacent to the new TELUS Convention Centre, is opening
in time to welcome visitors to Calgary during the traditionally busy summer months. Attendees to the World Petroleum
Congress and the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede will benefit, and Hyatt Regency Calgary will also serve as one
of the host hotels for the CFL Grey Cup in November.
Centrally located on the corner of Centre Street and Stephen Avenue Mall (Eighth Avenue), this brand new hotel
features the beauty of sandstone and signature roof profiles, window patterns and other exterior features of restored
heritage buildings along the historic Stephen Avenue walk.
The 21-story Hyatt Regency Calgary offers a Regency Club, Hyatt's most exclusive accommodations. The hotel also
features a 165-seat restaurant, lounge, swimming pool and health club. More than 25,000 square feet of meeting
and function space will be available for business and social functions.
