NEW YORK (May 2000) Loews Hotels, originators of the Power Breakfast, will be host to power pooches on Friday, June 23, from 7:00 – 10:00 am, for the first ever "Bark Breakfast." Hundreds of companies are expected to participate in Pets.com "Take Your Dog To Work Day," a celebration of dogs and recognition of their role as wonderful companions. All are welcome. Bark Breakfast admission charges vary by hotel and reservations are recommended. For information call 1-800-23-LOEWS or go to www.loewshotels.com.
The Loews Hotels Bark Breakfast, which will raise funds for local animal charities in Loews Hotels cities, will feature:
All Loews Hotels are involved with a local animal charity as part of the chain’s Good Neighbor Policy, the first and most comprehensive community outreach program in the hospitality industry. Through this unique initiative, hotel employees help their communities by organizing volunteer activities such as fixing up neighborhood shelters, donating excess food and used goods to local organizations, sponsoring literacy programs and blood drives, and hosting fundraisers for local charities. The Loews Hotels Bark Breakfast is the second in a series of three National Good Neighbor Days taking place at Loews Hotels in 2000 to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the program. Proceeds from all 14 breakfast events will go to charity.
"Loews Hotels are pet friendly and we’re known in all our cities as ‘the place’ to do business over breakfast," said Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Loews Hotels. "The combination of these two traditions for the Bark Breakfast is not only a fun way to raise money and awareness for animal charities, but also the perfect start for our neighbors, employees and customers to participate in Pets.com’s Take Your Dog to Work Day."
New "Loews Loves Pets" Service Program
While Loews Hotels have always been pet friendly, the Bark Breakfast also marks the launch of a newly standardized "Loews Loves Pets" program. As part of the hotel chain’s Loews Loves Pets policy, each VIP (Very Important Pet) can enjoy all the comforts of first-class travel with everything from gourmet room service to special bedding and guided walks by the concierge.
Upon check-in, VIPs are welcomed with a special amenity that includes: pet treats, a personal note from the hotel’s general manager; a listing of pet services available at the hotel including a map of the area with dog-walking routes highlighted, a listing of veterinarians, pet shops, and other resources. Guestrooms are equipped with a special pet place mat with food and water bowl, toys and treats, and "Do Not Disturb" signs that let housekeeping know that a pet is in residence. For finicky felines and carnivorous canines, Loews Hotels offer room service with menu items such as roasted salmon and grilled filet.
As part of Loews Hotels’ "Did You Forget Closet," each hotel lends guests dog and cat beds in different sizes, leashes and collars, and pet videos. Kitty litter boxes and litter, pooper scoopers, and a selection of pet toys are available for purchase.
