March 31, 2000
WASHINGTON, DC--MeriStar Hospitality Corporation (NYSE:MHX) and MeriStar Hotels & Resorts (NYSE:MMH) yesterday
announced that they have partnered with Denver-based STS Hotel Net to provide the Hotel Net Portal (www.hotelnet.com)
to guest rooms at MeriStar properties. The Hotel Net Portal is a guest service Internet portal designed specifically
for the hospitality industry that will add a new level of convenience to the guest experience.
The portal will provide high-speed Internet access and an on-line entry point for MeriStar guests accessing the
Internet. The portal's modules include information on local restaurants, entertainment, online shopping, business
support services, online travel planning resources, front desk support and concierge services and customized media
content.
``The Hotel Net Portal is a clear example of technology improving convenience for the business and leisure traveler,''
said Paul Whetsell, MeriStar chairman and CEO. ``The portal will provide new revenue streams for our owned and
managed hotels. Additionally, as part of this partnership, MeriStar Hospitality and MeriStar Hotels & Resorts
become equity holders of STS Hotel Net, allowing our shareholders to participate in the value generated by new
technology in the hospitality industry.''
The Hotel Net Portal will be available to guests through their laptop, TV, PDA, or in-room PC, increasing the number
of people who will access the service. STS believes that delivering a tasteful, rich online guest experience, regardless
of how the guest connects, is the single most important decision a hotel will make with regard to the Internet.
STS Hotel Net provides online media and Internet applications for the traveler and the hospitality industry. Hotel
companies intending to expand their brand presence and guest relationships use Hotel Net Portal to create a customized
