Spend the Night with `Doug' at Portland's 5th Avenue Suites Hotel

Company Press Release

March 27, 2000
PORTLAND, OR -- The 5th Avenue Suites Hotel is introducing the ``Spend the Night with Doug'' program. With this program, hotel guests desiring additional company can request to have a miniature Douglas Fir delivered to their room.

``As the state tree of Oregon, the Douglas Fir is a gracious symbol of our beautiful region,'' said Craig Thompson, general manager of the 5th Avenue Suites Hotel. ``This tree will provide our guests with stately companionship, and was chosen because it is a particularly good listener. The Douglas Fir requires little care and although it prefers either jazz or classical, it is adaptive to our guests' taste in music.''

Once each tree outgrows its temporary home, the 5th Avenue Suites Hotel will donate the tree to a permanent home -- Portland's Hoyt Arboretum.

``The `Spend the Night with Doug' program is our answer to the deforestation of our country's urban areas. It's a great way for us to have a little fun and help our natural environment at the same time,'' continued Thompson.

The ``Spend the Night with Doug'' program will be available beginning January 31, 2000. At time of check-in, guests can request a Douglas Fir to be delivered to their room at no additional charge. For more information call 503/417-3340.

The 5th Avenue Suites Hotel, ``Portland's Masterpiece'', features permanent displays of artwork by regional artists in addition to a gallery of rotating Northwest art. Centrally located in downtown Portland's business district, the 5th Avenue Suites Hotel offers a residential decor with the savvy of a luxury boutique hotel. Once a distinguished department store, the 5th Avenue Suites Hotel was completely renovated, decorated and reopened in 1996, now featuring 221 guest rooms. The 5th Avenue Suites Hotel is a 1999 Four Star Mobile Travel Guide and 1999 Four Diamond AAA Hotel.

The 5th Avenue Suites Hotel is owned by Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group, Inc. which operates 28 hotels and 27 restaurants in the United States and Canada.
