Travel University International Announces New Two Year Degree Programs in Hospitality Management and International Trade

Company Press Release

March 14, 2000
SAN DIEGO, CA -- By 2007 more than 2 million jobs in the travel and tourism sector will be created in the United States, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council.

Travel University International of San Diego is meeting that ever-growing job demand for more trained professionals by offering two new and different degree programs. Now students enrolling at the San Diego campus can earn a two year Associate of Applied Science Degree in either Hospitality Management or International Trade for the tuition of a one year program elsewhere.

This makes Travel University International the only two year degree school devoted entirely to training in the hospitality and international trade arenas. As a result of the new degree programs university officials anticipate enrollment to double within the year. Currently students hail from more than 20 countries around the globe.

A keen observer of the trends in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, Nancy Chappie, president of Travel University International, says continued success is now synonymous with more in-depth training: ``Our expanded curriculum is a natural step to increased professionalism in one of the fastest growing industries in the nation. It is obvious to us in the hospitality field that with the importance and impact of the global economy, international trade studies are a must for career advancement.''

Chappie says two major factors contribute to the success of the new two year degree program: 1. A required Internet research class. 2. Internships with major airlines, tour companies, travel agencies, hotels, the World Trade Center and international corporations, such as Xerox, Danzas and Kintetsu. ``The advantage of Travel University's graduates in today's job market,'' explained Chappie, ``is their ability to focus on the important aspects of customer service, bottom line profit and satisfied repeat customers.''

Boasting a 90% job placement rate, Travel University International provides a pool of talent from which San Diego's hospitality industry consistently draws. Chappie says the beginning salaries in the industry have increased 30-50% in the last two years for Travel University International graduates, many of whom go on to establish their own businesses. Established in 1983, Travel University International is the first nationally accredited travel school in San Diego with a second campus in Honolulu.
