We are pleased to invite you to the 4th Annual Florida Multicultural Tourism/Hotel Ownership Summit & Trade Show on June 21-25, 2000 at the Clarion Hotel Airport Conference Center, Jacksonville, Florida. The 4-day educational summit is presented by Black Meetings & Tourism Magazine, Jacksonville & The Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau, Horizons Marketing Group and The Latin Chamber of Commerce. The theme "Tourism Can Change Our Community" will focus on Hispanic, African American and other minorities in the travel market. Sponsors include Greater Fort Lauderdale Multicultural Tourism Network, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, Walt Disney World, American Airlines, Peebles Atlantic Development Corp., Southwest Airlines, Alken Tours, Alamo Rent A Car and Northwest Airlines. General sessions, workshops and seminars will educate and spark discussion on multicultural tourism.
The Summit attracts top level hospitality industry representatives including speakers and panelists such as John Crump, Chairman of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners; Solomon Herbert, Publisher of Black Meetings & Tourism Magazine; Valerie Ferguson, Former-Chair of American Hotel & Motel Association and Roy Jay, President of African American Convention & Tourism.
Throughout the conference, workshops will focus on minority hotel development, ownership, financing and franchising. You will hear from minority hotel developers R. Donahue Peebles, President of Peebles Atlantic Development Corp., the first African American to build a convention center hotel in this country; Donnell Thompson, President of Thompson Hospitality, developer of several chain hotels; Buggsi Patel, Chairman of the Asian American Hotel Owners Assoc. and others.
Attending will be tourism professionals such as Doris Clark, President of the African American Association of Innkeepers; Margaret Gonzalez, President of International Association of Hispanic Meeting Professionals and the NAACP National Office for an update on the NAACP hotel report card. Meeting planners from organizations including Jack & Jill, National Negro Golf Association, 100 Black Men, Fubu The Collection, National Sunday School & Baptist Training Union, National Association of Black Narcotics Agents and National Dental Association will share information with attendees on how diversity can play a role in winning their business. The Trade Show on Saturday, June 24, will include industry exhibits and displays from cities where multicultural tourism initiatives are thriving. During the closing banquet, our Annual Award will be presented to a hospitality entity for its accomplishments in diversity.
The Summit is designed to educate the industry on how to market to and share minority travel trends and it’s importance in the overall marketing strategy; to look at diversity issues and opportunities for minorities and the economic impact they can have in the minority community.

A one night hotel deposit of $105.75 is required with the registration form.
