New Las Vegas Candlewood Suites Offers Convenience, Value, Comfort Quiet Lodging Right Off the Strip

Company Press Release

March 1, 2000
LAS VEGAS, NV -- In a city often known for a ``more-is-better'' approach to lodging, Candlewood Hotel Co. (Nasdaq: CNDL) is betting that its amenities-rich, low-key, value-priced new Candlewood Suites here will be a winner with business and leisure travelers alike.

The 277-room property -- the largest Candlewood Suites in the country -- opens today at 4034 S. Paradise Road, near the intersection of Paradise and Flamingo Roads and five minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The hotel features 184 studio suites and 93 one bedrooms.

Candlewood doesn't need floorshows, fireworks or big-time spectacles to make travelers take notice. In fact, it's what you don't get at this hotel that sets it apart. You don't get to wait on parking. You don't get to trudge through a loud, smoky casino for 15 minutes (or more) to reach your room. You don't get to spend 30 minutes a day in front of the elevator. You don't get to stand in line for food service that costs too much.

You don't get to pay for every local phone call or fax.

At Candlewood, it's a different story and with a different ending. Because amenities are offered as guest services, rather than revenue generators, there are no surprises on the final bill. Everything is designed for comfort and convenience, particularly for the special needs of business travelers. The Candlewood experience in Las Vegas means:

- Two minutes from your car to the room.
- A quiet, comfortable, oversized guest suite.
- No crowds. No noise. No wasted time.
- Free local calls and incoming faxes and two phone lines.
- A fully equipped kitchen with icemaker in the fridge.
- 25-cent cokes and two-dollar breakfasts from the Candlewood
Cupboard, a food and sundry pantry with grocery-store prices.
Based on the honor system. No credit limit. Open all night.
- Large work area, adjustable work chair, recliner, big TV, hair
dryer, iron.

The hotel also features a pool and whirlpool and 24-hour desk service. Guests are welcomed with a free ``first night kit'' with popcorn, snack bars and coffee in every room.

``We're pleased to offer exactly what Las Vegas business travelers need -- a hotel that focuses on them,'' says Jerry Lord, general manager. ``Our team's motto is `sincere about service.' We're committed to providing the best stay possible.''

Candlewood Hotel Co. owns, operates and franchises Candlewood Suites, which targets mid-market business travelers and others on short or long-term travel. Chairman and CEO Jack DeBoer, who also founded Residence Inn and co-founded Summerfield Suites in the 1970s and 1980s, founded Candlewood in 1995. He is recognized in the hotel industry as the creator of the extended-stay concept. There are 77 Candlewood Suites open coast-to-coast and more under construction. www.candlewoodsuites.com
