NATIONAL CITY, CA. and VANCOUVER, WA -- Red Lion Hotels & Inns announced the opening of their 31st property, the 170-room Red Lion Inn & Suites San Diego-South Bay in National City, Calif.

Formerly a Radisson Suites, the Red Lion Hotel Inn & Suites San Diego-South Bay is owned and managed by National City Capital under a license agreement with Red Lion Hotels & Inns, a franchise subsidiary of Beverly Hills-based Hilton Hotels Corporation.

This opening represents the first Red Lion hotel in Southern California since the ``re-launching'' of the Red Lion brand in late 1999.

``Our return to the San Diego area is a perfect fit for Red Lion as we continue our efforts to reenter key West Coast markets,'' said Tom Murray, chief operating officer of Red Lion Hotels & Inns and senior vice president -- hotel division for Hilton Hotels Corporation.

The 170 one- and two-bedroom suites at the Red Lion Inn & Suites San Diego-South Bay feature a living room with a pull out sofa; a separate sleeping area; and a convenience center with a coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave. Standard guest amenities also include two color TVs with remote and pay-per-view movies, two phones with data ports and voice mail, an iron and full-size ironing board, and a hair dryer.

A complimentary deluxe continental breakfast is served each morning and shuttle service to San Diego International Airport and the San Diego Naval Station also is available.
