Company Press Release
June 6, 2000
MORRIS PLAINS, NJ--A new Candlewood Suites opens this week in Morris Plains, N.J., less than 35 miles from New York City and less than 20 miles from Newark, N.J., and the Newark International Airport. The Parsippany-Morris Plains hotel is located at 100 Candlewood Drive on Route 53 just off Route 10 and near Interstate 287.

Despite its busy location, the hotel is nestled among mature trees and offers a quiet respite for travelers. It is the third Candlewood Suites in New Jersey.

The new property is one of the best lodging values in the tri-state area. Business travelers will appreciate its proximity to major corporate offices for Warner-Lambert, American Home Products, Nortel, AT&T, Nabisco, EDS and Lucent. Leisure travelers will appreciate the easy access to New York City's many tourist attractions and to New Jersey's Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Candlewood Suites offers larger-than-average guest suites perfectly suited for business travelers and loaded with amenities. The new hotel features 122 rooms, including 98 studios and 24 one-bedroom suites. Introductory rates through July 31 are $79 per night for studios and $99 for one-bedroom suites.

Each suite's large working area, two phone lines and adjustable executive chair make it easy to work on the road. A complete kitchen, recliner, 25-inch television, VCR and CD players, and free video and CD checkouts make it just as easy to relax.

Free local phone calls, free laundry facilities, 25-cent per minute long distance and the Candlewood Cupboard make the stay even more enjoyable - and affordable. The Candlewood Cupboard is an on-site, honor-based food and sundries pantry where items are value-priced near cost.

``The Parsippany-Morris Plains Candlewood Suites has it all: location, comfortable rooms and value-based pricing that's among the most affordable in the area,'' says Shayne Eynon, hotel general manager. ``At Candlewood Suites, the cost-conscious traveler does not have to sacrifice quality,'' she adds.

The other New Jersey Candlewood Suites include: the Philadelphia-Mt. Laurel property at 4000 Crawford Place, Mt. Laurel; and the Somerset property at 41 World's Fair Drive, Somerset.

Candlewood Hotel Co. (Nasdaq:CNDL) owns, operates and franchises Candlewood Suites, which targets mid-market business travelers and others on short or long-term stays.
