Company Press Release
June 29, 2000
WICHITA, KS -- Independence Day means cherishing our freedom, family picnics, fireworks - and now -- a free night's stay for older travelers at Candlewood Suites. Candlewood's Senior Value Program - where travelers 55 and older stay for half price at participating properties coast-to-coast - has been extended through July 31, 2001.

To qualify, guests agree to stay for an additional day, either before or after the holiday. Travelers should call 1-888-CANDLEWOOD for reservations.

``We extended the program to show our appreciation for the tremendous response from older travelers,'' says David Redfern, Candlewood vice president of sales and marketing.

The program is good on July Fourth and other major holidays, including: Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Memorial Day. A first-time stay with Candlewood -- anytime -- counts as yet another ``holiday.''

Candlewood guests can always count on a large, comfortable and inviting suite, choosing from a studio or a one-bedroom. Kitchens feature full-size refrigerators with icemaker. At the Candlewood Cupboard, soft drinks are just a quarter and other food and sundry items are available at or near cost. Guests can check out a movie or favorite CD at no charge from the multimedia library. Local calls and incoming faxes are free. There is an on-site fitness center and many other thoughtful extras.

Candlewood Suites targets mid-market travelers on short or long-term stays. Chairman and CEO Jack DeBoer, who founded Residence Inn and co-founded Summerfield Suites in the 1970s and 1980s, founded Candlewood in 1995. He is recognized in the hotel industry as the creator of the extended-stay concept. There are currently 82 Candlewood Suites open coast-to-coast, with more under construction.
