Seven Springs Announces Succession Plan With McClure Retirement

Company Press Release: Seven Springs Mountain Resort
July 5, 2000
CHAMPION, PA -- James N. McClure, Chairman and President of Seven Springs Mountain Resort, has announced his retirement from the resort after 40 years of service. Effective July 7th of this year, McClure will step down from his position, but will remain on the resort's Board of Directors after his retirement.

McClure has been a member of the Seven Springs management team almost since he joined the resort in 1960, serving as Vice President and General Manager from 1968 to 1992, when he was named President.

``This has been the greatest experience in my life,'' said McClure, ``and it has been extremely rewarding to live through the growth of the resort from its humble beginnings as a winter retreat for Pittsburgh business leaders to its present status as one of the premier year-round sports, vacation and meeting resorts in the East.

``I am especially pleased that we have overcome our `growing pains' and have recently launched a dramatic $6.5 million capital improvement program,'' McClure continued. ``This expansion program, in addition to the recent sales success of our pre-season value ski pass, solidifies the enthusiasm that customers share with us. I'm confident that Seven Springs will enjoy its status as a leading year-round resort for decades to come.''

Seven Springs Board of Directors also announced several appointments as a result of McClure's retirement. Scott Bender, Vice President and General Manager at Seven Springs for the past seven years, has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for all of the resort's numerous operating departments.

In another action, Sanford ``Sandy'' Ferguson, who since 1997 has served as corporate counsel and business consultant to the Board of Directors, was appointed Chairman and President for an interim period. Mr. Ferguson is a past partner at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart law firm, and, more recently, was the President of Solutions Consulting, Inc., an information technology services company, which was recently acquired by Perot Systems.

``Scott and his team have a big job in making sure that Seven Springs continues in a healthy growth mode,'' said Mr. Ferguson. ``Seven Springs is fortunate to have a very talented and loyal group of managers. With this team in place, our new facilities, great resort and our ability to invest in further improvements, we look forward to the challenge of perpetuating the success of Seven Springs.''
