KANSAS CITY, MO -- Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes and Hall of Famer George Brett today joined representatives from
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in a flag-raising ceremony to officially open The Fairmont Kansas City at the Plaza.
The hotel, formerly The Ritz-Carlton, Kansas City, is now part of North America's largest luxury hotel company
-- Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Other Fairmont properties include The Fairmont San Francisco, The Plaza in New
York, Le Chateau Frontenac and Chateau Lake Louise in Canada.
Following the flag-raising ceremony, Brett and his wife, Leslie, signed the guest register, becoming the first
official guests to check in to the "new" hotel.
