Company Press Release: Windstar Cruises
February 14, 2000
SEATTLE, WA -- Offering cruise guests two nights free hotel, Windstar has just upped the ante on its 7-day Aegean
cruises in Europe this year.
To receive the two free hotel overnights, consumers must book a 7-day Greek and Turkish Isles cruise by April 15,
2000.
The company is offering guests an outstanding European vacation value by combining the free hotel offer with low-cost
airfare and excellent cruise discounts.
Prices on the Aegean cruise start at $3,422 per person, double occupancy, including port taxes. This represents
savings of 30% off the brochure rate.
In addition, transatlantic airfare is just $599 per person, round-trip between New York and Athens, Greece and/or
Istanbul, Turkey. All necessary transfers are included with the airfare.
This offer is valid on select Windstar 7-day Aegean cruises aboard either of Windstar's intimate 148-passenger
motor-sail yachts, the Wind Spirit or Wind Song.
The Aegean discounts are offered on cruises beginning June 3 through October 21, 2000.
The Conrad Istanbul Hotel, a Conrad Hilton International property in Istanbul, Turkey is where guests will lodge
for two nights, compliments of Windstar.
The two free hotel overnights will be added either pre- or post-cruise depending on whether the guest sails from
Athens, Greece or Istanbul Turkey.
Overlooking the Ciragan Palace Kempinski and the Bosporous Sea, the Conrad Istanbul offers refined service and
dining throughout the hotel restaurants, guest rooms, lounges and health club with indoor/outdoor pools and tennis
courts. The hotel also offers guests a traditional Turkish shoeshine and limousine service with multilingual drivers
to explore Istanbul's city maze.
The hotel interiors are evocative of the region, combining both contemporary and traditional Turkish delights.
The lobby boasts elegant stone columns ringing a grand staircase. The award-winning dining options include northern
Italian and authentic Ottoman cuisine, a charming Turkish cafe designed to look like an old Istanbul coffee house,
an international sports lounge, a French patisserie and a stunning rooftop terrace with unobstructed sea views.
A shopping arcade, 24-hour business center, and onsite parking complement the Conrad's guest rooms which offer
all of the modern amenities as well as marvelous views of the Bosporous.
In addition to the extra nights in exotic Istanbul, guests will enjoy cruising to the fabled islands of Kusadasi
and Bodrum, Turkey; Rhodes, Santorini, and Mykonos, Greece, topped with a visit to Athens, the capital of Greek
society and culture. The 7-day cruises depart weekly on Saturday and sail from Athens, Greece to Istanbul, Turkey
or the reverse.
Offering an affordably priced, luxury cruise experience, Windstar recently finished in the top two for small ship
cruising in Travel and Leisure's World's Best Awards and Conde Nast Traveler UK Readers' Choice Awards for 1999.
