Press Release: Dollywood
December 15, 2000
ORLANDO, FL -- The Burbridge Foundation announced the transfer of a 12-acre parcel of real estate in Orlando, Florida
to the Dixie Stampede LLC, a Dollywood Production.
``It is an excellent location, adjacent to I-4, midway between Disney World and Universal Studios,'' said Dolly
Parton. ``We are privileged to be able to acquire property the Burbridge Foundation would only sell if it was used
for wholesome family entertainment.''
Dolly was at her theme park, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, when the closing took place, preparing for her
Christmas concerts to raise funds for the Dollywood Foundation. One of the programs the Dollywood Foundation sponsors
is called the Imagination Library. It provides children a book a month from the day they are born until they enter
Kindergarten. The program currently serves communities in five states.
She said of her newest venture in Orlando, ``I look forward to creating another great family attraction in central
Florida.'' Dolly most recently announced the addition of a 20 million-dollar water park, Dolly's Splash Country
adjacent to Dollywood.
``Shortly, we will announce the scope and details of this project,'' said Fred Hardwick, Chairman of her Dixie
Stampede Company.
