December 6, 2000
BURLINGTON, MA -- A new Candlewood Suites is now open in Burlington, Mass., about 15 miles from downtown Boston.
It is the second Candlewood Suites to open in the Boston area.
The Boston-Burlington Candlewood Suites, at 130 Middlesex Turnpike, is less than 20 miles from Logan International
Airport. It is conveniently located at the intersection of Routes 95 and 128, and Route 3, near what is referred
to as ``America's technology highway.'' Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard and Siemens have corporate offices nearby.
Leisure travelers to Boston will enjoy Candlewood's proximity to nearby restaurants and shops, as well as historic
Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox, and Cape Cod, one of the region's most popular vacation spots. Lahey Clinic,
an internationally recognized medical treatment center, is within a short drive.
Introductory rates are $109 to $169, depending on type of suite and length of stay.
``Candlewood Suites' commitment to value is matched only by our team's commitment to outstanding customer service,''
says Andrew Rabinowitz, hotel general manager.
Candlewood Suites offers larger-than-average guest suites, which are loaded with amenities and perfectly suited
for business travelers. The new hotel features 149 suites: 35 one-bedrooms and 114 studios. Each suite includes
a complete kitchen, oversized recliner, 25-inch television, large business desk, adjustable executive chair, two
phone lines and data port.
Amenities include free local phone calls and incoming faxes, free laundry facilities, low-cost long distance, 25-cent
soft drinks, free video and CD checkouts and an upscale exercise room. Value-priced food items, snacks and sundries
are available 24-hours-a-day from the honor-based Candlewood Cupboard pantry.
Candlewood Hotel Co. (Nasdaq: CNDL) owns, operates and franchises Candlewood Suites, which targets mid-market business
travelers and others on short- or long-term stays. Candlewood has also recently begun franchising its upscale brand,
Cambridge Suites. Chairman and CEO Jack DeBoer, who founded Residence Inn and co-founded Summerfield Suites in
the 1970s and 1980s, founded Candlewood in 1995 and Cambridge Suites in 1998. He is recognized in the hotel industry
as the creator of the extended stay concept. There are currently 89 Candlewood Suites open coast-to-coast, with
more under construction.
