New York Marriott Business Council Presents Fifth Annual Holiday Meal For The Homeless Wednesday, December 6

Press Release
December 4, 2000
NEW YORK, NY -- The fifth annual New York Marriott Holiday Meal for the Homeless will take place on Wednesday, December 6. Sponsored by the New York Marriott Business Council and the City of New York Department of Homeless Services, the event welcomes over 1,000 guests at three different shelters located in Brooklyn, Westchester and Long Island.

A culinary team of Marriott’s finest chefs will prepare this bounteous holiday meal with all the trimmings in the kitchens of each Marriott Hotel in the three respective areas where the shelters are located. Then, volunteers from Marriott hotels and Marriott Distribution Services will load everything into vehicles and deliver it to the shelters, where they will serve a heartwarming dinner to the shelters’ guests. The Department of Homeless Services provides holiday decorations and entertainment.

“Each year it gives us such great pleasure to work with the Department of Homeless Services to share this holiday meal and some of the joys of the season with our local communities,” says Vipin Khullar, director of food and beverage at the New York Marriott World Trade Center. Mr. Khullar chairs this annual event and is responsible for coordinating the chefs, the menu and the meal transportation to the three shelters. “We’ll be sure to create a celebration with all the trimmings of a family holiday meal, including fresh roasted turkey and ham with vegetables, delicious desserts, and more,” adds Khullar.

33 Church Street
