Press Release: Killington Resort
November 22, 2006
KILLINGTON, VT -- Killington Resort will offer the most open terrain in the East for opening day on Thursday, Thanksgiving
Day, with 16 trails served by seven lifts off Killington Peak and Snowdon Mountain.
Cold temperatures that have allowed snowmaking for the past 96 hours and Killington will kick off the 2006-07 ski
and snowboard season at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, offering six miles of groomed terrain covered with 18-24 inches
of snow. In addition, Killington will open two early-season terrain parks to kick off the season on Reason and
Upper Double Dipper, featuring numerous hits, rails and boxes.
Killington Resort, which features the most extensive snowmaking system in the world covering more than 50 miles
of terrain, has been making snow since Friday evening. Continued cold temperatures will allow for terrain expansion
into the Snowshed and Ramshead areas as conditions permit.
"We have been building deep bases on all 16 trails for the past four days and with temperatures remaining
cold, we'll take advantage of every available opportunity to produce snow and open more terrain," said Dave
Lacombe, snow surfaces manager for Killington Resort.
Killington will offer more difficult and most difficult terrain from the K-1 Lodge area for the Thanksgiving weekend.
In addition, Learn-To-Ski/Ride and beginner lessons will be available at the Ramshead Lodge.
