C.A.R.E. Holds 42nd Semiannual Conference; Announces Award Winners, New Board

SAGINAW, TX -- The Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers (C.A.R.E.) recently honored two of its members at its 42nd semiannual conference, held in late April in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Selected as the recipient of C.A.R.E.’s prestigious Pinnacle Award for lifetime achievement was Melanie Gring, Vice President of Marketing for Global Connections, Inc.

According to Debbie Sansom, Secretary of C.A.R.E. and chairperson of the awards committee, “This award was meant for someone like Melanie. She has added significant structure and organization to C.A.R.E. by organizing committees, educational speakers at conferences and establishing the by-laws and a code of ethics. A highly creative thinker and long-range planner, her leadership has helped establish strategic planning directions for the C.A.R.E. organization.”

Gring is Immediate Past President of C.A.R.E. and Chair of the Travel Club Task Force, which was recently established to develop and adopt a code of standards and ethics for the travel club industry. Gring currently co-chairs several committees for the continued growth of the C.A.R.E. organization.

Also honored at the conference was Jennie Thompson, selected as the recipient of the Richard Gallardo Service award for her volunteer services to help improve the organization. Thompson is the Reservations Manager with Travel Advantage Network (TAN) and serves on C.A.R.E.’s Marketing/Revenue Generation and Membership committees.

The conference was held to provide a networking platform for its member companies and to enhance professional growth offered via educational speakers and panels. The Cape Cod conference paid special recognition to volunteer members and named a new Board of Directors, listed below with their Board position and member organization.

Adds Bonnie Kosco, C. A. R.E. President. “Our goal is to offer our members the tools to provide outstanding vacation services while remaining committed to the highest standards and ethics. We are a non-profit trade association founded over 20 years ago. Today, the C.A.R.E. member base of approximately 175 companies is comprised of resort developers, property management firms, exchange organizations, travel clubs and industry service providers.”

C.A.R.E. programs assist diverse entities to increase revenue, fully utilize inventory and enhance owner/member vacation experiences. C.A.R.E. is an international organization with members in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia offering over 2,500 vacation properties and services to over a million vacation owners and members.
