Press Release: Fairfield Resorts, Inc.
July 28, 2005
ORLANDO, FL -- Fairfield Resorts, Inc., the largest vacation ownership company in the world with more than 500,000
owners, announced yesterday it has purchased the Prava Hotel, a seven-story, 56-room hotel ideally located in the
historic Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego. Fairfield plans to renovate the existing property and re-open
as Fairfield San Diego at Harbour Lights, becoming Fairfield’s second timeshare resort in California.
“Anyone who’s visited San Diego knows the Gaslamp Quarter and how unique it is, and this resort will put our owners
in an unbeatable atmosphere and location,” said Franz Hanning, president and CEO, Fairfield Resorts. “We’re very
excited to add another resort in southern California to our portfolio, especially one that’s as elegant and exclusive
as this.”
Fairfield San Diego at Harbour Lights will be a 56-unit timeshare resort, featuring all studio deluxe suites and
a single one-bedroom unit. All suites will be fully furnished with living area and kitchenette. Resort amenities
include an exercise room, spa with sauna, steam room and massage, guest laundry facilities and valet parking.
Renovations are scheduled to begin in October, with an expected resort opening in February 2006.
While this marks Fairfield’s second resort project in California, it will be the first to open. In September,
Fairfield plans to break ground on a new, 136-unit resort in Oceanside - Fairfield Oceanside at the Pier - scheduled
to open early 2008.
Built in 2000, the Prava Hotel overlooks the Gaslamp Quarter on 5th Avenue and is minutes from the city’s renowned
attractions – including the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Pacific beaches and more. One of San Diego’s most historic
areas, the Gaslamp Quarter is a premier dining, shopping and entertainment district. Featuring Victorian-style
buildings built in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Quarter is a popular attraction for both visitors and locals,
known for its sidewalk cafes, art galleries and boutiques, brick walkways and more than 90 restaurants.
