Baha Mar to Develop Mixed-Use Village Along Cable Beach Resort Strip

Press Release: Cable Beach Resorts
August 12, 2005
NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS -- Soon, guests of Cable Beach Resorts' Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino, Radisson Cable Beach & Golf Resort, and Nassau Beach Hotel, will be able to enjoy a new experience – a mixed-used, island-inspired village marketplace on West Bay Street that will add new shopping and dining choices for visitors. The three properties situated side-by-side along 3,000 feet of Nassau 's largest and most beautiful beach already share a host of guest services and amenities including golf, tennis and casino privileges, allowing guests to stay at the resort of their choice yet enjoy many of the amenities offered by either of the other properties.

Nassau 's new West Bay Village is scheduled to open in late 2006 and represents the first stage in phase one development of Baha Mar , a world-class mega resort and gaming destination in The Bahamas that will be uniquely Bahamian in character. With an initial investment of $1.2 billion, Baha Mar represents the single largest investment in the history of the Bahamas . Once complete, this one-in-the-world resort slated to open in 2007 will include 2,700 rooms across multiple, branded properties. Baha Mar will also feature the largest casino in the Caribbean , and countless amenities and ‘must-see', ‘must-do' experiences. The mixed-use West Bay Village complex will be situated directly opposite the Cable Beach Resorts strip and will feature 200,000 square feet of retail shops and restaurants, in addition to commercial service providers and corporate and Government offices.

Baha Mar Development Company, which owns and operates the Wyndham Crystal Palace Casino, Radisson and Nassau Beach hotels, and is behind the mega-resort development project, will select a Bahamian architectural design firm to develop the new commercial village at Cable Beach in collaboration with Michael Hong Associates, the lead design and architectural firm on the Baha Mar project.

According to Executive Vice President of Design and Development, John Kristich, “This commercial village will serve as a hub for cultural and economic activity and is expected to be an integral part of today's Cable Beach Resorts experience and the Baha Mar vision of tomorrow. It also represents our commitment to creating an authentically Bahamian product that reflects the life and charm that is native to the city of Nassau and the Islands of The Bahamas.”
