St. Joe Escapes Ivan's Wrath

Further On-Site Inspections Reveal ``Minimal'' Damage to Key JOE Properties

Press Release: The St. Joe Company
September 20, 2004
PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL -- The St. Joe Company (NYSE:JOE) announced Sept. 16 that the company suffered minimal damage to its key properties in Walton, Bay and Gulf counties in the wake of Hurricane Ivan. Additional on-site inspections are consistent with earlier reports. In addition to damage to landscaping, so far we have found relatively minor damage to our structures. JOE's beachfront developments sustained only some beach erosion, but no dunes were breeched and there was no flooding in any of JOE's communities.

"Fortunately, it appears Hurricane Ivan will have only minimal impact on our business operations," said Peter S. Rummell, JOE's chairman and CEO. "Our focus now will be to join with the community to help speed the region's recovery."
