Press Release: Shell Vacations LLC
October 26, 2004
NORTHBROOK, IL -- Shell Vacations LLC has recently announced the name for its new resort to be built in the wine
country of Napa Valley, California and the selection of various contractors for the property.
Vino Bello, the masculine version of the Italian words "beautiful wine" is the name for the new vacation
ownership resort, to be built by Shell Vacations. Ground breaking for the luxurious 100-unit resort is expected
in mid-October with completion of the first 64 units expected by the fourth quarter of 2005. The property was the
only land in Napa that had been zoned for vacation ownership development.
The purpose-built resort will feature one- and two-bedroom units and will be managed by Shell Hospitality, Inc.
Amenities will include a swimming pool with Jacuzzi and children's pool, and a state-of-the-art exercise facility.
According to Jeffrey Server, Shell's Executive VP of Acquisitions/Development, U.S. Pacific Construction Inc. of
Honolulu, Hawaii has been named general contractor for the project. They will be working with Concepts Four, of
Long Beach as lead architect for Vino Bello according to Steve Morell, Shell VP of Acquisition/Development, responsible
for construction.
Server adds, "We expect this resort to be the most expensive we have ever built on a per key basis. We are
truly pulling out all the stops on this one!"
The interior design team will be headed by the Orlando office of Wimberly, Allison, Tong & Goo (WATG). According
to Elaine Lazarus, V.P. of Acquisition/Development who is responsible for all Shell interior design, WATG has done
several other Shell projects in Arizona and Hawaii.
"Vino Bello's interiors will feature an Old World, Tuscan/Italian theme," says Lazarus. "We expect
this resort to be the crown jewel of our resorts with elegant, top quality furnishings to meet the needs of our
discriminating Shell Vacations Club members and their expectations of a unique Napa Resort.
The 100-room Meritage Hotel at Napa, developed by Pacific Hospitality Group to be built on the contiguous site,
will contain the largest convention facilities in Napa and have a restaurant and other hotel.
Vino Bello will fall under the Shell Vacations Club - West region and is expected to be a highly demanded resort
by the company's owners and members. Although the area has over three million annual visitors, Napa Valley has
only 3,000 hotel rooms, the majority of which are small bed and breakfast establishments.
Shell Vacations is one of the nation's largest independent vacation ownership developers, operating 17 resorts
in six states and Canada and various preview centers. California resorts include: The Inn at the Opera, The Suites
at Fisherman's Wharf, the Donatello Hotel in San Francisco and. Peacock Suites in Anaheim. The company has over
2,000 employees and a hospitality division serving close to 90,000 owner/members.
