CARMEL, CA -- Highlands Inn, Park Hyatt Carmel is pleased to announce the preliminary lineup of chefs and winemakers
who will be participating in the Nineteenth Annual Masters of Food & Wine February 17-20, 2005. This annual
event is held at the Highlands Inn, Park Hyatt Carmel, located along the magnificent coastline of Carmel, California.
Internationally recognized as one of the most spectacular gatherings of celebrated chefs and winemakers, the Masters
features rare vertical wine tastings, unique culinary demonstrations by acclaimed chefs, and extravagant gala luncheons
and dinners. Helping us to achieve this effort are our generous cosponsors Wine Spectator and Park Hyatt Hotels.
This year's Masters will include three-star Michelin-rated chefs Gerard Boyer as well as Philippe Legendre of Le
Cinq in Paris and one-star Michelin-rated chefs Angela Hartnett of The Connaught in London and Andoni Luis Aduriz
of Mugaritz in Spain. Other award-winning chefs will include: Alice Waters of Chez Panisse, Rick Bayless of Topolobampo
in Chicago, Mark Miller of Coyote Cafe in Santa Fe, Bradley Ogden of Bradley Ogden in Las Vegas, and Charlie Palmer
of Aureole in New York - just to name a few. The Nineteenth Annual Masters of Food & Wine will also include
more than fifty-five prestigious wineries, including Bond Estate, Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, Domaine Serene, CA
Henschke, Jorge Ordonez Fine Estates, Moet Chandon, Dom Perignon, Pisoni, and Peter Michael Winery.
A highlight of this annual event is the exclusive Rarities Dinner, which is an exquisite event pairing an eight-course
meal with rare vintages to be served in a private home with a spectacular oceanfront setting. Additionally, the
week's festivities include gala lunches and dinners matching signature dishes from the world's top chefs with distinguished
wines from the United States, Australia, and Europe. Events are individually priced, starting at $100, and are
open to the public.
The Masters of Food & Wine celebrates fine cuisine and wine as a common international language; each year drawing
on an exclusive roster of chefs and vintners. Past participants have included: Julia Child, Jacques Pepin, Charlie
Trotter, Jean-Louis Palladin, Rocco DiSpirito, Diana Kennedy, Gray Kunz, Marcella Hazan, Roger Verge, Alice Waters,
Thomas Keller, Paul Bocuse, Emeril Lagasse, Chateau d'Yquem's Comte Alexandre de Lur-Saluces, Champagne Duetz,
Peter Michael Winery, Chateau Haut-Brion, Quinta do Noval, Richard Grace of Grace Family Vineyard, Aubert de Villaine
of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, Frederic Engerer of Chateau Latour, and Angelo Gaja of Gaja Winery.
Highlands Inn, Park Hyatt Carmel's Executive Chef, Mark Ayers, Executive Assistant Manager of Food and Beverage,
Robert Weakley, and Director of Wine, Bernabe Del Luna, will orchestrate this gathering of acclaimed masters. They
together will coordinate menus, wine tastings, and oversee the wine pairings and food service for all the luncheons
and dinners.
