The Beginning of Pueblo Bonito Hotels & Resorts

Press Release: Pueblo Bonito Hotels & Resorts
November 23, 2004
MAZATLAN, Mexico -- In 1987 Ernesto Coppel and Mark Kronemeyer together opened the first Pueblo Bonito resort, Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan. The property was the original Pueblo Bonito, a warm and welcoming resort, considered one of the most desirable hotels in Mazatlan because of its combination of modern luxury and old world charm. Its popularity required the addition of another horseshoe-shaped wing, designed around a central courtyard and pool.
The resort's enthusiastic acceptance prompted Coppel and Kronemeyer to build Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos, which opened in 1991. The property is located in Cabo San Lucas on El Medano Beach overlooking the Sea of Cortez. Though maintaining the general ambiance of Mexican charm, its exterior architecture is distinguished by gleaming white walls, flower-accented balconies and deep blue tiled domes that blend harmoniously with sun and sea. The interior theme gives an appealing air of coziness, with pebbled mosaic insets in the lobby's white marble floors, an impressive metal chandelier and colonial-style furnishings.

Ernesto Coppel subsequently built Pueblo Bonito Rose, in Cabo San Lucas, Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay in Mazatlan, and Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, also in Cabo San Lucas. Coppel's newest project is the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Holistic Retreat & Spa, which will open in April 2005. Another property in the Punta Mita area of Puerto Vallarta is scheduled for 2006.
