Jerde Partnership Launches Hospitality and Resort Design Practice

25-Year Industry Veteran Barton Chambers Joins Jerde to Lead Effort

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The Jerde Partnership, an internationally-acclaimed architecture and urban planning firm, Nov. 18 announced that Barton R. Chambers, AIA, will spearhead the firm's worldwide hospitality and resort practice. The firm's rich portfolio of built projects includes Bellagio, Treasure Island and Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas as well as the highly anticipated Wynn Las Vegas in Las Vegas and Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa near Palm Springs.

"Barton brings a wonderful energy and expertise to the firm that will help us grow our established, world-class practice," said Executive Vice President Richard Poulos. "Working closely with clients, he will apply his 25 years of experience working with industry leaders such as Hilton, Marriott, Intercontinental, Lowes, Plaza Hotels and Universal Studios to ensure the goals and visions fortheir projects are realized."

Chambers, a former leader of RTKL's hospitality practice, was responsible for the design and management of five-star urban hotels, resorts and historic preservation hospitality projects. Over the course of his career, he has also participated in a diverse range of international projects, including planning and urban design commissions, large-scale urban mixed-use districts, class A office buildings, museums, retail centers, and residential communities. His recently completed projects include Pacific Quay Master Plan, Honolulu; the award-winning Mockingbird Station, Dallas; Galata Port Waterfront Master Plan, Istanbul; LA Live Master Plan at Staples Center, Los Angeles; and the Shanghai Museum of Science, Shanghai. He has received numerous awards for excellence in architecture, planning and urban design.

Chambers is a member of the American Institute of Architects. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was awarded the Texas Society of Architects Jesse H. Jones Foundation Scholarship. He also studied at the University of Oklahoma, where he was named "Outstanding Freshman," and the University of Calgary in Canada.
