Press Release: Shell Vacations LLC
November 19, 2004
NORTHBROOK, IL -- Malana deSilva, General Manager of the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy in Kauai and her staff
of 60 resort professionals, were recently honored by Shell Hospitality, Inc. by winning the company's first annual
Management Team Appreciation Award.
The competition included all 15 Shell Hospitallity-managed properties and was based on management efforts for the
past year.
The criteria involved in selecting the resort winner included the team's capability of demonstrating exceptional
efforts in achieving the goals of its mission statement, effectively managing the financial component of the property,
exceeding rental revenue and excelling in positive guest comment scores, including scores from RCI exchange guests.
While all Shell Hospitality resorts ranked extremely high in guest satisfaction, intent to return and value levels,
the Kauai Coast at the Beachboy resort received a 93.9% overall satisfaction and overall value rating for the first
six months of 2004. This gives it one of the highest ratings of all Shell resorts. Items measured include Front
Desk check-in and checkout, friendly, helpful and prompt staff, food and beverage accuracy and cleanliness of guestroom.
Another element that catapulted this team into prominence was the proactive steps taken to improve ratings of their
internal employee satisfaction survey. (The employee survey overall average for 2004 is over 90% positive.)
Added Steven Hicks, president of Shell Hospitallity, Inc. who was on hand to present the prestigious award to deSilva
and her staff, "Malana's resort also rated high in its contribution to the entire company."
Owned by Shell Vacations and managed by Shell Hospitality, Inc., the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy is a 108-unit
