Press Release: Aviawest Resorts
November 17, 2004
VICTORIA, BC -- Sales on selection day, November 13th 2004, at Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa exceeded expectations
with buyers from as far away as the United Kingdom and as close as around the corner in Victoria recognized the
value of vacation home ownership in the vibrant downtown.
"Our very first sale was to a Seattle resident who bought all four quarters of his suite," said developer
Andrew Pearson. "He'll use it as an investment until he retires and then he'll move to Victoria and enjoy
all the amenities of living in a luxury resort hotel every day."
Over 17 million dollars in fee simple Quarter Ownership Real Estate, configured as one & two bedroom homes,
were sold in under five hours on Saturday. This feat could only be accomplished with a priority registration system,
ensuring those who had first expressed interest were first to be able to make their choice. "The priority
registration process helped us to manage the volume on opening day," stated developer Jim Pearson. "We
expect sales to continue at a brisk but manageable pace now and we anticipate an early sell out."
Ground breaking will quickly follow today's announcements with building to start within the next few weeks with
completion expected in 2006.
Throughout the building process, Parkside Victoria will pursue Platinum status in the LEED (Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating SystemŽ. This a voluntary, consensus-based standard for developing
high-performance, sustainable buildings and platinum is the highest standard one can attain. When Parkside Victoria
meets this goal it will likely be the first building in Canada to do so.
Parkside Victoria will feature two elegant buildings united by a 3 storied glass atrium with features such as waterfalls,
ponds, rooftop gardens, a 25-meter ozonated indoor pool with glass-bottomed Koi pond above, owners lounge, 20 seat
movie theater, gourmet restaurant, fitness centre, full service spa, hot tubs, sauna and steam room.
Parkside Resort & Spa is being developed by Aviawest Resorts, who also developed Aviawest Resort Club, with
four locations on the West Coast of Canada. This successful resort concept prompted the creation of Parkside Victoria,
the first urban fractional ownership opportunity in Canada. Aviawest is owned and operated by the Pearson family
of Vancouver Island. There are 5 family members actively involved in concept, development, marketing, sales and
management of vacation properties.
