JALUX, Inc. to Promote Marriott Vacation Club International's Hawaii and Thailand Properties in Japan

Press Release: Marriott Vacation Club International
July 1, 2004
KO OLINA, HI - Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI), the Vacation Ownership division of Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE/MAR), and recognized worldwide leader within the industry and JALUX Inc., a core company in the distribution and service sector of the JAL group, have signed an agreement in which JALUX will market in Japan the luxurious Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club on Oahu's tranquil and sunny western shores and Marriott's Phuket Beach Club in Thailand.

"There is the opportunity for sales in this market because Japanese travel trends are changing," said Robert Calhoun, regional vice president of sales and marketing for Marriott Vacation Club International, Hawaii and Asia. "We see that Japanese want to create a balance in their work and personal life by taking vacations. For many repeat Japanese visitors to Hawaii, they see the value in vacation ownership."

The general manager of JALUX, Inc. Life Design Division, Ken Taguchi, signed the agreement along with Robert Calhoun at the beachfront Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club.

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club is noted as MVCIıs most ambitious and largest project to date in Hawaii. The master plan features 750 luxury villas at Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club. Anticipated date of completion is 2016.

Each of the two-bedroom, two-bath villas is approximately 1,240 square feet in size and will feature beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean or Waianae Mountain Range. As a result of demands, there will be three-bedroom villas available in phase two for a total of 750. A limited number of penthouse villas will also be available.

The luxurious villas also include a living and dining area; fully equipped kitchen; washer and dryer. MVCI owners will have access to two outdoor pool areas, outdoor spas, an on-site fitness center, barbecue and picnic areas, Marriott Compass Kids' Club, owners' lounge, The MarketPlaceSM (convenience store and deli), business center, two restaurants and water features throughout the resort.

"The property is a wonderful complement to our current MVCI collection of Hawaii properties: Marriottıs Maui Ocean Club, Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club at Poipu Beach and Marriottıs Kauai Beach Club," stated Calhoun. "The secluded and tranquil Ko Olina destination is an exciting place to be, with plans for a nearby world-class aquarium and single family luxury residential homes, we look forward to our owners who will truly benefit from the Ko Olina Resort's many offerings."

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club is only a 20-minute drive from Honolulu International Airport. It is part of the Ko Olina Resort, a master-planned resort community on the western shore of Oahu. In addition to the award-winning JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa at Ko Olina and the 18-hole Ted Robinson-designed Ko Olina Golf Club, managed by Marriott Golf, the resort is home to four pristine lagoons, the Fairways at Ko Olina townhome development, the Paradise Cove luau and cultural center, and a 270-slip private world-class marina. The planned world-class aquarium and single luxury residential homes are being developed as a direct result of the state of Hawaii's tax credit for development in Ko Olina Resort.

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club, designed by Architects Hawaii, will be MVCI's first Vacation Ownership resort on Oahu and fourth within the Hawaiian Islands. Other MVCI properties are located on Kauai and Maui: Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club on Kauai, Marriott's Kauai Beach Club, and Marriott's Maui Ocean Club.

"Marriott's timeshare business reported 16 percent higher contract sales for the full year of 2003. Contract sales were particularly strong at timeshare resorts in Aruba and Hawaii," said Calhoun.

Vacation ownership sales for villas in phase one are brisk with a vacation sales gallery located on the 14th floor at Marriottıs Ko Olina Beach Club. MVCI's Waikiki sales gallery is located on the third floor of the Waikiki Shopping Plaza and on the lobby level at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and Spa.
